I always use a meat thermometer to make sure that my meat is cooked safely. It’s a very flexible seasoning, do as you wish! (Example ratio: ½ tbsp garlic powder, ½ tbsp onion powder, ½ tbsp dried basil, 1 tsp salt, ½ tsp pepper to 1 cup panko) I love garlic so I tend to go heavy on the garlic powder. ![]()
![]() CostCo offered the best quality of the three at the better price. ![]() ![]() The desire to go to a larger print size led to the consideration of Walmart, Walgreens, CVS and CostCo. For two years I uses a Lexmark AIO and limited my self to 8X10 prints. Their rules allowed for a liberal interpretation of Print quality and encouraged the use of cheap at home printers. I did not print anything until I joined a Camera club that had print categories in its monthly competition. But getting what I want out of my photos is a priority for me, so I pay the price. A good printer and good paper is not cheap, neither is ink. This way I get exactly the print i want, something I've never gotten out of a photo finisher. I've been printing with an Epson R2400 since 2005, thousands of prints, and have not had any problems with it. Since I only have a Canon Pixma printer that (apparently) needs new ink, looks like I am going to walgreens this afternoon. I use an Epson 3880 and am very happy with the results. The convenience of printing your own is worth a lot to me. Your cost per print is about double what I said above. If you are printing just for casual use then one of the desk top Epson printers work well. I print a couple of thousand 8x10 per year so the printer get regular use. You have to be using your printer regularly or the heads will clog. The ink usage for an 8 x 10 is usually 0.5 ml, cost about 45¢. I buy the paper when Epson offers a deal and it is 24¢ a sheet. Imagefx edited this topic 111 months ago. They do a decent job for proofs and I am also NOT able to print for anywhere near that price even with shipping added (usually 2 to 6 dollars) I use snapfish for my proofs, about 10 cents each (specials are as low as 1 cent each) all plus shipping Will check out the costs for photo paper, but suspect that I might just end up doing what you are doing. I use CVS for proof's and use MPIX for final prints. Have you looked what 8x10 paper costs now? I gave up printing at home, by the time you get the ink, paper and run tests so your printer will give you the output you are looking for, you will spend way more money than they charge you at Walgreens. In short, when do you print at home and when do you decide it should go out to a NON-professional lab like walgreens? Or should I be spending that money on ink and photo paper and be printing from home? Should I shell out the $12 for three 8X10 photos and about 30 cents apiece for the 24 or so 4X6 prints I will need? I have some (non-critical) photos that I want to look nice, but don't want to spend a whole lot of money on (like, a couple 8X10s for my kid's homework project, and some photos of stuff to be put onto storage containers because my wife absolutely refuses to READ anything - including labels). Unfortunately, the last decent lab in my area closed up about two months ago :( When does it "make sense" to print at home on a consumer grade inkjet printer versus printing at walgreens? ![]() Keep track of any and all side effects your child has after receiving this vaccine. ![]() Straight-out-of-camera JPEGs are impressively sharp and vibrant | Sony RX100 VII f/4.5 1/200 ISO100įor some, having a 24-200mm zoom lens in your pocket will be reason enough to invest in the latest Sony RX100 VII model. The shot below was one of about 30 in quick succession – my son was actually sprinting along the rope bridge, and the RX100 VII didn’t miss a beat with the focus. The VII also offers fast AF, a new 4K video HDR mode, 4-stop image stabilisation, Active Steady Shot for video recording and a larger buffer – 233 vs the V’s already impressive 150. On the VI, the tilt is 90 degrees down and 180 degrees up, making it perfect for vlogging. You’re able to touch to change AF points, focus, and then shoot – this is a really handy feature for capturing candid travel moments, especially when combined with the tilting display. The Sony RX100 VII offers a tilting touchscreen, albeit a limited one. The RX100V featured f/1.8~2.8, but the focal range was limited to a 24-70mm equivalent. Speaking of aperture, the only slight disappointment is the variable aperture of f/2.8~4.5. I also love the ability to set the lens ring up as a custom function – I had mine as exposure compensation, so shooting in Aperture Priority was intuitive and fun. Start-up time is fast, as is the zoom speed. The zoom lens on the Sony RX100 VII extends to give between 24mm and 200mm of optical zoom range. High ISO performance is decent, with clean images up to 1600, then quickly degrading after 2000 – as is expected on a camera with a 1-inch CMOS sensor. In practice, shooting at ISO125 and brightening in the post was similar to having shot at ISO800~1600 and nailing the exposure. The lens is sharp across its frame, and the dynamic range is decent, too – shooting at low ISOs and underexposing the image allows you to bring back a good amount of shadow data later in Lightroom. Image quality is great, whether shooting JPEG or RAW format. ![]() Sony’s Real Time Eye AF means the Sony RX100 VII is constantly tracking faces and eyes, even before you press the shutter button – it makes capturing a subject almost too easy… I switched the mode from high to medium and found I was taking too many photos! This is a huge step up from the Sony RX100 VI, which had 315 phase AF points, 25 contrast AF points and a maximum burst mode of 24fps. ![]() Taking photos of our fast-moving kids is a cinch – just point the Sony RX100 VII in their general direction, hold down the Eye AF button for one of the 357 phase and 425 contrast AF points to lock onto the nearest face, and fire away – at a frankly ridiculous 90fps, nothing can escape your shutter! There are a confusing amount of AF options and modes, but after you find the one you want and set up a button to control Eye AF, it’s pretty hard actually to miss a moment. Standing on the beach, I shot one image at 24mm on the RX100 VII, then the next at 200mm – incredible!Īuto Focus performance is incredible, as you can expect from a Sony cyber-shot camera. I also love the fact that LCD displays the optical zoom focal length as you’re zooming, so you can set it to 35mm, for example, and leave it there if that’s your preference when shooting primes – this is what I found myself doing since I rarely shoot at 24mm. It’s easy to see why this would be so great for travel photography, where you can’t always move to get closer to your subject. Check out the image below for what I mean. Top of the list is the incredible zoom lens – a 24-200mm, wide to telephoto equivalent range that’ll leave your jaw on the floor. There’s just SO much packed into its svelte, pocketable body – you can slip it into your jeans’ front pocket! I spent a few weeks shooting this powerful little camera for a full Sony RX100 VII review and have decided to name it the top compact camera for travel.įirst, let’s get the price out of the way – at over $1,200, the Sony RX100 VII (aka the Sony cyber-shot RX100 VII) is an investment.ĭespite being expensive, I do actually think it’s good value for money. If you’re in a line-up of one of the most popular compact camera series of all time, you have a lot to live up to… fortunately, the Sony RX100 VII doesn’t disappoint.
